At the beginning of the semester, I mentioned that I wanted each of you to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. And we repeated the mantra -- I am an entrepreneur. Now, at the end, do you see yourself as an entrepreneur? Do you think you have moved closer to developing an entrepreneurial mindset?
I do not see myself as an entrepreneur. I see myself as an economists and every experience I have will help me see how all the markets work. I guess this class has helped me in seeing exactly how an entrepreneurial mindset is a great thing, but I know through experience that for an idea to succeed in today's society the idea either needs to be completely revolutionary or you need capital to back up your idea so bigger companies do not steal it.
What is the one recommendation you would make to the students who are going to journey down this path in the future? What would you recommend they do to perform best in this course? What would you recommend they do to foster that mindset?
To any students who are going to go down this journey I would urge them to be prepared to think outside of the box. To do the best in the course I would suggest that they do not wait till the last minute to turn in all of the assignments. For them to get the entrepreneurial mindset I would tell them that its just a way of thinking, it isn't something that is easily learned from a book.
Hey Will, I think that when you talk about beginning to have an entrepreneurial mind and you say that you don't fully consider yourself an entrepreneur because you haven't actually started something concrete yet, you are doing a good job of keeping things real. A realistic outlook is good when you try to keep facts on check and your goals are set straight. Check out my blog here: http://agarciaent3003.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way you do about having an entrepreneur mindset but not considering myself an entrepreneur fully. This class seemed to have the same affect on me, as it did on you. You had some great post throughout the semester and I'm happy you now are comfortable recording yourself and talking fluently.
